New Multicore Programming Practices Working Group

The Multicore Association has formed a new working group, the Multicore Programming Practices (MPP) working group, with the goal to develop a multicore software programming guide for the industry that will aid in improving consistency and understanding of multicore programming issues. Initially the group will consider best practices leveraging the C/C++ language to generate a guide of genuine value to engineers who are approaching multicore programming. This working group will be co-chaired by David Stewart, CEO of CriticalBlue and Max Domeika, Senior Staff Software Engineer at Intel.

To help kick off this working group, we will host a public meeting at the Design Automation Conference (DAC) in Anaheim, CA on June 10, 2008 from 5:00p.m. to 6:30p.m. in Room 201C of the Anaheim Convention Center. This meeting will provide more details on the scope, focus and motivation of the MPP and is open to all interested parties. For more information please visit the Multicore Association’s website.

Invitation to Next Multicore Association Working Group Meetings

On June 5-6, the Multicore Association will hold face to face technical meetings for its working groups in Austin, Texas. All non-members are invited as guests. Please send email to markus.levy@multicore-association.org if you're interested in attending.

The schedule is as follows:

Day 1: June 5
10am-1pm Multicore Resource Management API Working Group (lunch included)
1pm-5pm Multicore Programming Techniques

Day 2: June 6
8-12 Hypervisor API Working Group

Multicore Expo Conference Proceedings

If you were unable to attend the keynote and technical sessions at the recent Multicore Expo, we now have the proceedings available for download for $135. You can still purchase the conference proceedings at multicore-expo.com. We are still working on finalizing the dates for the Multicore Expo in 2009. We'll let you know as soon as possible.
